Khawachen Dharma Center was founded in 1979 by the late Ngodup Paljor in Anchorage. From 1979 to 1989 Khawachen brought both Tibetan lamas and Zen teachers to Alaska. Since 1989 it has continued, on a less organized basis, to bring Buddhist teachers to Homer. At present the group meets regularly only when a teacher is visiting
